Pont Du Gard (France)
The well-preserved Pont du Gard, the iconic, ancient Roman aqueduct that crosses the Gardon River near Vers-Pont-du-Gard in southern France, is built as three tiers of archways, carrying water to the city of Nîmes, is the highest of all elevated Roman aqueducts. Its place in history, as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is assured.
When the decision was made to light up this 2000 year old masterpiece of Roman construction, InnovationLED were entrusted with providing the illumination with 300 tasteful, custom-built, colour changing exterior luminaries. Innovation LED’s flexible, in-house production enabled all fixtures to be produced in a custom power coat finish to blend in with the unique architecture.
All operating parameters of each individual luminaire are monitored by sophisticated custom hardware and software, remotely accessible by the aqueduct’s maintenance engineers
