Holme Grange School Wokingham (UK)

Working with Andrew Stone of Theatre Consultants Drama by Design, InnovationLED realised the general lighting scheme for the multifunction theatre room in the new build Caudwell Hall.

The lighting requirement for this project provided several design challenges that were difficult to achieve with other commercially available LED products.

Being a multi-purpose venue, high level, low glare even distribution light was required for exam use coupled with theatrical grade dimming when the room is used as a performance venue.  With the stage area being composed from the single level floor space and the use of retractable seating, precise control of different lighting zones was essential.

In addition, in case of power failure to the building, the installed luminaires were required to provide backup illumination for the space.

InnovationLED’s Nova range of luminaires provided the perfect solution to address these design criteria.

These luminaires were delivered to the project custom painted to the RAL colour of the roof space in Caldwell Hall, and were configured with power fail detection, custom colour temperature LEDs and wireless DMX control so each fixture could be individually addressed.

For day-to-day use, InnovationLED’s own  8 way  “Lyra” control panels were located around the room to provide quick access to commonly used lighting scenes and the wireless transmitter used to stream data to the fixtures was provided with merger functionality so a standard DMX lighting desk could override and take control of the entire lighting scheme when used for performances.

In addition, Adoni 2 downlighters in pendant adapters were suspended within the building for 24/7  low level background lighting.
